J.S.P.M.Latur India Shivaji Mahavidyalaya Renapur is established in 1993 with Arts and Commerce faculty. Need of Science education at graduation level for this rural area was fulfilled by starting Science faculty at degree level in 2009-2010 under the able guidance of Hon. Shri. Shivajirao Patil Kavekar (Ex.MLA and Founder President of J.S.P.M.Latur India) and Former Principal Dr.Yadav S.V.
The department of Botany is the integral part of Department of Life Sciences. There are many students who have been learning Botany as their optional subject in Life Science. Presently there are two faculty members in the department Dr.Yadav S.G. (M.Sc.Ph.D.F.I.A.S.I., F.S.L.Sc. ) and Mr.Sabale C.G. (M.Sc.NET) . In the department more emphasis is given on teaching learning and evaluation. Personal attention is paid to each student and extra efforts for slow learners and always tries for overall development of the students.
The Department has maintained Botanical garden with useful plants for the practical purposes.The botanical garden increases the flora and beauty of college campus. The Museum cum Herbarium activity is well maintained. The local or long tours for collection of plant specimens are the continuous activity of the department. Our research interest is mainly focused on Phycology, Plant Pathology, Taxonomy and Aerobiology.
